Science Art

Science and Art have always been very related and intertwined fields, supporting and inspiring each other. I have loved drawing and painting ever since I was old enough to hold a pen. Now, I am happy to combine this my other love, Science. I love making simple illustrations to support presentations and blog posts, as well as more complex graphical abstracts or Journal covers.

Journal cover

This cover accompanies an article describing the peptidoglycan structure of Streptomyces coelicolor. The illustration imagines Streptomyces colonies as a barbed-wire fence, showing a ‘Streptomyces wall’. https://jb.asm.org/content/200/20/e00290-18.short

Popular Science illustrations

I like to make illustrations of my favourite bacteria and try to do so in a way that’s not per se funny or ‘geeky’. The world of microbiology is invisible, alien and beautiful. I enjoy showing bacteria and designs based on microorganisms as aesthetically pleasing and interesting pieces of art. Find more in my Redbubble shop!
